In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha election, the Deputy Commissioner (Excise) of South West Khasi Hills has declared three dry days on April 17, 18 and 19 in the district.
The state goes to the polls on April 19. In addition, the DC declared June 4, the day of counting of votes, a dry day as well.
Although it was not specified today, dry days typically mean that all IMFL licensed premises (wholesale and retail), bars, canteens, homemade wine licensees, alcohol home delivery services and outstills must remain closed on the notified dates.
