The Dr Ambedkar Foundation, an autonomous organisation of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, has instituted the Dr Ambedkar National Award to be presented to women, men and institutions/organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of social understanding and for upliftment of the weaker sections of India.
The award is presented by the President of India and carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh along with a citation.
Individuals from East Khasi Hills who desire their names to be recommended to the government for the award are to send their nominations to the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills on or before March 26.
