A woman of Rwiang village in West Khasi Hills has been reported as missing, police said.
In a police complaint, her family raised suspicion that she might have eloped with a worker of Shakhambari Ferro Alloy Company, located in the village, since September 16.
While police are trying to locate the missing woman, the Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC) and the dorbar shnong shut down the factory, for alleged failure to contain its workers.
According to reports, the closure was made for the second time today after the factory resumed its operations yesterday when the dorbar had closed it’s down the day before.
HYC district president, Lumlang Kharsyiemlieh stated that the dorbar had sought their help to shut down the company for failing to comply with their directive on September 20.
He said the organisation will not allow the factory to operate till the woman is brought back home.
