Shillong, Oct 22: Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shillong — one of the region’s leading institutions dedicated to youth skill development — continues its mission of empowering young people through practical and vocational training.
Director Fr. Michel Makri presented a sewing machine to Sinora Khongshei, a trainee who successfully completed her course in tailoring and embroidery. The gesture recognised her dedication, performance, and potential to build a sustainable livelihood.
The centre regularly supports deserving and outstanding trainees who complete various skill-based programs, including computer literacy, laptop operation, tailoring, embroidery, and other vocational courses. Such initiatives are part of its ongoing commitment to promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship among youth.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Fr. Makri emphasised that the recognition was based on the trainer’s assessment of Khongshei’s performance and diligence. He noted that the sewing machine serves not only as a tool for her future work but also as an inspiration to other young people to work hard and become independent.
Khongshei expressed heartfelt gratitude to Don Bosco Youth Centre and her trainer for their guidance and support. She encouraged her fellow trainees to stay committed and make the best use of the opportunities provided by the centre.
