The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the Don Bosco College, Byndihati took part in the nationwide volunteering initiative ‘This Diwali with My Bharat’, which concluded today.
The initiative aimed at celebrating the first anniversary of the My Bharat Portal, a digital platform by the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs that aims to empower Indian youth through education, social mobility and practical skills.
East Jaintia Hills is the only district from the State selected to take part in the event with an objective to promote social service and community spirit during the Diwali festivities.
The volunteers during the three-day event conducted a cleaning drive at the Khliehriat market, civil hospital and assisted traffic police in managing congestion.
These initiatives aim to engage citizens across the district, fostering a spirit of unity and collaboration while ensuring cleaner public spaces and smoother community services during the festive season.
