Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has instructed the traffic police department to work out details to avoid vehicular traffic jam during the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled on April 17 and 18 in the capital.
A review meeting was chaired by the deputy chief minister today wherein beautification, repairs of infrastructure, security and transportation etc, were discussed.
Tynsong said that not less than 120 delegates are expected to arrive in Shillong and they will be put up at the Marriott Hotel.
“Meeting was held with concerned departments and we are ready to welcome the delegates of G20,” said Tynsong, “Preparations will be done on or before April 15.”
The ‘Space-20 programme’ of the G20 is a continuation of the Space Economy Leaders Meeting held by the National Space Agencies of the G20 countries in 2020. The objective of the space economy leaders meeting will be to discuss how space partnerships can contribute to the growth of the economy of G20 nations, in line with India’s G20 theme of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (One Earth-One Family-One Future.
The G20 or Group of 20 is an intergovernmental forum of the world’s major developed and developing economies.
It comprises Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US, and the European Union (EU).
