Another illegal coke factory was demolished in East Jaiñtia Hills district today, taking the total number to 10 in the State.
Deputy Commissioner, Abhilash Baranwal informed that the demolition was conducted at Druk Fuels Ltd. Nongjri, under Sutnga Elaka in the presence of district officials, pollution control board and district commerce and industries centre.
The demolition was carried out by blasting through explosives at around 3 pm by observing all safety precautions during the process, he said, adding, the demolition exercise will continue over the next few weeks against all illegally constructed coke plants within the district.
Altogether there are 34 illegal coke plants in East Jaiñtia Hills district.
