The mortal remains of former teacher of St. Edmund’s School here, Brother Eric D’Souza, fondly known as ‘Dasu’ was laid to rest today at the Laitumkhrah Catholic Cemetery here.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was among the large number of former students who attended the funeral ceremony.
Brother D’Souza passed away on October 14 at the age of 74 in an old age home in Goa.
Speaking at the funeral ceremony, Brother D’Souza’s sister said that over the last few days, her family witnessed an overwhelming outpouring of affection, love, and dedication for her brother.
“It speaks of a man who made a significant impact. I am grateful that Dasu is being laid to rest here in Shillong, a place he called home.”
The funeral ceremony was conducted by Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh of Shillong Archdiocese, with numerous bishops, priests, and both past and present students in attendance.
Brother D’Souza was renowned for his transformative impact on students’ lives during his tenure at St. Edmund’s School in Shillong and St. Columba’s School in Delhi.
He taught Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan at St. Columba’s School in Delhi.
