Retired Indian Forest Service official Cavouright P Marak was sworn in as the new Chairperson of the Meghalaya Lokayukta by Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar at the Raj Bhavan today.
Marak was a former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial). Following his retirement as a civil servant, he took on various other roles. In 2021 he was appointed as a member of the Meghalaya State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. And in 2023 he was named Executive Chairman of MBOSE.
Chief Secretary Donald P Wahlang, senior government officials and other dignitaries were present during the ceremony.
The Governor congratulated Marak and expressed confidence in his ability to uphold the values of justice, integrity, fairness and strengthen the institutional mechanisms of transparency, accountability and corruption-free within the state.
