From today, the vaccination drive against Covid-19 began in all health institutions in Ri-Bhoi, Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah informed.
“This vaccination drive for Covid-19 is mainly for those healthcare workers or frontline workers who are yet to be vaccinated,” she told this reporter. Those who have yet to register can do so at any healthcare institute.
The vaccine jab is free to all at government health centres but will cost Rs 250 at private institutions.
Kurbah, who has already received the first dose of the vaccine, said that the government health facilities in the district where the public can receive their jab comprise eight public health centres (PHCs), three community health centres (CHCs), two state dispensaries and the Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
The current round of the vaccine drive is meant for those individuals 60 years old as on January 1, 2022 as well as for those between the ages of 45 and 59 if they have co-morbid conditions certified by a registered medical practitioner.
Kurbah appealed to the general public and government employees to make sure to get vaccinated to stop the spread of Covid-19 in the district.
