Meghalaya registered 97 new cases of Covid-19 today, with 50 coming from Calvary Bible College, Nongthymmai in East Khasi Hills.
In all East Khasi Hills recorded 93 new infections. Besides the 50 from Nongthymmai, these included 24 returnees, two armed forces/paramilitaries, five high-risk contacts, three health workers, four in Mawlai and five influenza-like illnesses (ILIs).
There were also two new cases each in West Jaiñtia Hills (both returnees) and Ri-Bhoi (one returnee, one high-risk contact).
There were also three recoveries, all in East Khasi Hills.
There are now 457 active Covid-19 cases in the state, an increase of 26 per cent on the previous day. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 360 active cases and West Jaiñtia Hills 58.
In all, Meghalaya has had 14,582 Covid-19 cases, of which 457 are active, 13,974 have recovered and 151 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has fallen to 95.83 per cent. The fatality rate is 1.04 per cent. Over 1.66 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Meghalaya as of today.
