Following the arrest of two suspected thieves today, police busted a rented place in Jhalupara where most of the stolen loot had been stored.
This spot had also been used by the thieves as a centre for all sorts of illicit activities, including drugs and prostitution, and the neighbours were absolutely sick of the goings on there.
What led to the bust was a case of theft that occurred today. Thanks to CCTV footage the police were able to nab the two suspects, who then led the authorities to the rented house where they stored the stolen items from past crimes.
According to the neighbours, the house in Jhalupara was the scene of drug peddling, drug abuse, flesh trade and selling of the stolen items.
The neighbours said that they had complained to police and the property’s owner before but no action was ever taken. Only once, during the Covid-19 pandemic, did police recover a huge stash of stolen goods, like mobile phones, laptops, etc, from the house but the neighbours stated that even if arrested, the suspects would secure bail soon after and be back at their illegal activities.
To see drug users openly injecting and taking drugs in the building everyday had become an eyesore and was gravely worrying as to the influence such sights would have on the children of the area.
