Meghalaya police recently arrested two Bangladeshis nationals and an equal number of locals who were allegedly aiding them in the act of illegal migration.
According to police, it was on June 17 that the two Bangaldeshis – Asha Aktar (25) of Dhaka and Md Tutul (35) of Sapur – were picked up by the authorities along National Highway 40, between Shillong and Dawki.
The duo were travelling in a Meghalaya registered vehicle (ML 05AE 8719), which was being driven by one Daniel Pyngrope (19). Pyngrope and another Indian co-passenger, Fernando Pyngrope (21), were detained along with the two Bangladeshis.
