Shillong, Dec 3: Meghalaya won by a whopping 348 runs after bowling out Arunachal Pradesh for a mere 90 on the third day of their U-19 men’s Cooch Behar Trophy 2025-26 plate group match at the MCA Ground here today.

To recap, Meghalaya made 205 in their first innings, dismissed Arunachal for 136 and were 298/5 at the close of play yesterday in their second innings.

Meghalaya added another 71 runs this morning to be bowled out for 369, which set the visitors a mountain of a target – 439 to win.

Overnight batter Angkit Tamang added 10 runs this morning but was run out for 97; he was the second Meghalaya batter dismissed in the nervous 90s after Dipayan Nandi (94) yesterday.

Heiyoomiki Ryngkhlem (32 not out from 26 balls) and Mewankitbok Kharpuri (27 from 16) entertained with 11 fours between them in a partnership of exactly 50 for the eighth wicket and that took Meghalaya’s lead to over 400.

Ayush Singh accounted for three of the wickets to fall today and finished with figures of 4/46 for Arunachal.

The target proved to be too much to handle and Meghalaya were bristling with confidence. All 10 wickets fell in just 31 overs about an hour into the second session.

Middle order batter Deepak Kumar Yadav (31) provided resistance but the hosts could not be stopped from marching to victory. In terms of balls faced, Arunachal’s ninth wicket stand was the second longest at 37 deliveries. With the tailenders holding out against the pace of Apandanka Marak (3/21) and Gaurav Narleng (1/21), the ball was thrown to leg spinner Mewankitbok Kharpuri. He dealt with the last two batters in the same over to end with 4/18, which gave him impressive match figures of 7/49.

Angkit was the other bowler to take wickets for Meghalaya, claiming 2/18.

Meghalaya will stay in Shillong for their next game, which will be against Nagaland from 8 December.
