Shillong, Dec 1: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suppresses success stories from the North East, the Congress Party claimed today as it launched its ‘National Talent Hunt’ programme in the state.
The BJP is powerful enough to stifle the voice of the National People’s Party (NPP) and other allies. It is the NPP that is the lead party in the state government coalition.
“If at all they (NPP) want to do anything, they are not allowed by the BJP to showcase the voice of Meghalaya and therefore it is for the Congress Party to highlight the voice of the state by highlighting the talents of Meghalaya,” Anthony said during the launch at Congress Bhavan here. “It (the talent hunt) re-emphasises the importance and the significance that is given by the Congress to the North East side of India.”
He also pointed out that there is an increased interest towards the Congress in Meghalaya and that is motivation for the party to launch the talent hunt programme to draw towards the party sharp minds, bold voices and indomitable spirits who can fearlessly defend the essence of India.
Anthony said that the platform will train and empower those who are willing to raise their voice, lead others and contribute to building an inclusive and prosperous nation.
He said that it was important for the Congress to attract the youth as well the educated people into the party.
He said that in the new age politics communication is the key and the National Talent Hunt programme is an invitation for all those who love a secular India and believe in its Constitution and ideology of the Congress to participate.
