The President of the Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress, Joplyn Scott Shylla, has questioned the role that some IAS officers serving in the State government have in the functioning of private businesses.
Referring to statements made in a letter to a local newspaper, Shylla questioned how the Meghalaya Infrastructure Finance and Development Corporation (MIFDC) and Meghalaya Integrated Transport Project could award a contract to an international firm of consultants, Dalberg, when the CEO of the MIFDC and director of the project is married to a woman with an interest in Dalberg.
“How can the same officer be allowed to channel funds from public money to a firm in which he has an equal interest?” she queried.
It may be noted that the Project Director of the ‘Meghalaya Integrated Transport Project’ (MITP) and also CEO of MIFDC is senior IAS officer Dr. D. Vijay Kumar.
