Social activist Greneth M Sangma has sought action against a construction company for failure to commence work to construct a government lower primary school at Bagangre, South Garo Hills.
In a complaint to the Director of School Education and Literacy, Sangma said that Shivin Construction Fancy Valley, Tura was handed the sanction order to begin the work from June 18, 2024 amounting to Rs. 44, 79,448.
Expressing concern over the inordinate delay to start the construction work, he said the school has been functioning without a proper building about 20 years. This has deprived students of a proper learning environment, he added.
He sought stern action against the company and urged the Director to immediately cancel the work order and hand over the project to a reliable contractor who can complete the work within the stipulated time frame.
