The College of Community Science in Tura, under the Central Agricultural University (Imphal), marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 20th foundation day today.
The event was inaugurated by Dolrich BG Momin, Additional Deputy Commissioner, esteemed guests including the two founder Deans of the college – Rita Singh Raghuvanshi and K Sheela – and others. The present Dean, Jyoti V Vastrad, faculty, staff and students were the organisers.
Momin, the chief guest, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the support provided by the late PA Sangma, former Lok Sabha Speaker, Tura MP and Chief Minister, who played a pivotal role in establishing the college in Tura. He congratulated the authorities for their efforts in ensuring the institution’s growth and reaching its highest potential.
The two former Deans took the audience on a nostalgic journey, reminiscing about the early days of the institution and acknowledging the contributions of former students and staff members. Vastrad provided an overview of the college’s achievements in the past year, highlighting its progress and accomplishments.
As a gesture of recognition, certificates were presented to faculty members for their exceptional contributions in securing funds from external sources. The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners of the college week events were honoured, followed by a cultural performance.
