The College of Community Science in Tura celebrated its 21st foundation day yesterday.
The event brought together a wide array of guests, faculty, and officials from the state government. College Dean Jyoti V Vastrad presented an insightful overview of the college’s key achievements. Following this, Mamoni Das, the chief guest and Dean of the College of Community Science, AAU, Jorhat, spoke about the importance of community science and education.
She emphasised the need for networking with other institutions to further enhance research and outreach efforts. Guest of honour, Deputy Inspector General of Police Raghavendra Kumar MG, addressed critical social issues, including cybercrime, drug abuse and crimes against women and children. He stressed the importance of safety, precautionary measures and the civil duties and responsibilities of citizens.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Tengchi Margarette G Momin, highlighted the transformative power of education and its role in empowering communities.
The celebration also recognised and felicitated Garo sports personalities during a prize distribution ceremony. The event featured vibrant cultural performances, including solo songs, a children’s fashion show, folk dances and more, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of the students.
