Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has announced that the newly carved Eastern West Khasi Hills district will soon get its new full-fledged Deputy Commissioner (DC) office at Mairang.
During his speech at the programme to observe the 188th death anniversary of U Tirot Sing Syiem the Chief Minister said, “We will be sanctioning the new DC office very soon. So the first target will be to have the Deputy Commissioner office here since the new district has been given”.
He also said the infrastructure of the area will be rapidly developed in the new district as well as convention centres, auditoriums, sports arenas, and movie theatres in the district headquarters. The government is committed to the development of youth groups through YESS and the Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project, which will in the future include theatrical events in its remit, he added.
