Civil defence mock drills will be conducted in Shillong on Wednesday in accordance with the instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards has informed that the mock exercise on air raid precaution measures will begin from 4 pm onwards. The Air Raid siren will be sounded at 6:30 pm.
A ‘black out’ exercise (power-shutdown) of two minutes will commence immediately after the siren is sounded.
“The general public is requested not to panic as this is being done as part of a mock exercise for air raid,” the directorate said.
The MHA on Monday asked several states to conduct mock drills on Wednesday in view of “new and complex threats” that have emerged amid rising tension with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.
