The Khasi Jaiñtia Christian Leaders Forum (KJCLF) has urged the State government and the armed forces to find a lasting and permanent solution to recurring problems such as that in Mawshbuit.
Expressing concern over the scuffle that broke out between residents of Mawshbuit village and personnel of 58 Gorkha Training Centre over the closure of a gate the forum said authorities should recognise the plight of the public who suffer because of unfortunate incidents. “We live in a democracy where the people and their welfare should always take precedence,” the forum in a statement said.
The forum said that while such incidents involving the armed forces and the public keep happening from time to time, not only in Mawshbuit but in other places also it also called upon the armed forces and the public to exercise maximum restraint so that violence is avoided.
