The All Jaiñtia Cement Clinker Transporters Association has threatened not to pay toll charges from New Year onwards.
The association led by its president B Thubru said the decision not to pay toll charges was of the adamant attitude of the government and the National Highway Authority of India in not repairing the dilapidated roads and bridges
“We will no longer pay toll at the toll gates from New Year until the National Highway Authority of India does not construct roads for loaded vehicles,” Thubru said.
Further the association has urged the government to speed up required works with the Coal India Ltd as directed by the National Green Tribunal for people to find out ways and means to earn a living. It also urged the government to facilitate in sanctioning of loans to small businessmen affected by the recent order prohibiting loaded trucks to pass through the Dwar Ksuid and Umiam bridges in Ri Bhoi district.
