Following the coming into force of the model code of conduct in the State, the East Khasi Hills district administration has prohibited carrying of cash above Rs 50,000.
According to an order issued today by the District Magistrate, the ban on carrying of cash above Rs 50,000 was issued in order to prevent bribery of voters by any candidate.
In another order, the district administration has banned wall writing, pasting of any poster, paper or any defacement including displaying of any cut out, hoarding, banner etc on any public property.
Wall writing, pasting of any poster, paper or any defacement including displaying of any cut out, hoarding, banner etc on any public property will be permitted in private property only with written permission from the house-owner and final approval by the District Magistrate.
No election meeting, rallies or procession will be allowed without taking permission from the office of the District Magistrate. No public address system will be allowed from 10 pm to 6 am.
In another order, the District Magistrate has prohibited holding of any agitation in any form in the entire East Khasi Hills including hunger strike, procession or rally.
