The district level Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign was today inaugurated by West Jaintia Hills district Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Kumar Singh at the training hall, DC office, Jowai.
The campaign is being jointly organised by the office of Deputy Commissioner and District Social Welfare Officer in collaboration with the registered NGOs on the theme, “Substance Abuse -Prevention Treatment and Rehabilitation”.
Addressing the urgent need to combat substance abuse in the community, Singh emphasised the importance of collective action and community involvement. He also outlined a series of programmes which will be conducted as part of the campaign and informed that awareness programmes will be conducted across the district to engage and educate people of all ages.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ishan Gupta emphasised on the critical need to confront the escalating issue of drug abuse. He highlighted the menace is not only a national crisis but is increasingly affecting local communities within the district across both urban and rural areas.
Fighting drug abuse requires urgency and collective resolve, Gupta said.
