The Hynñiewtrep Youths Council (HYC) has called on the state government to give financial aid to the Dorbar Shnongs, especially given their role in combating the spread of Covid-19.
In a letter to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister today, the pressure group said that the government would have found it impossible to rein in the spread of Covid-19 had it not had the active help of the neighbourhood and village bodies.
“Therefore, we urge upon your good office and the state government as a whole, to provide special financial assistance as incentive to the Dorbar Shnongs, through the respective ADCs (autonomous district councils), as recognition and reward for their services so that they may continue to work for the welfare of the people in the grassroot level along with the state government,” the HYC said.
