Shillong, Apr 11: In a significant move to bolster law enforcement and public safety, the Byrnihat Outpost was formally inaugurated as a full-fledged police station today.
The inaugural ceremony, held at the MeECL Inspection Bungalow in Byrnihat, marks a major step toward strengthening the security infrastructure of the region.
Sosthenes Sohtun, Cabinet Minister and local MLA, officially in his address emphasized the necessity of modernising policing infrastructure to keep pace with the growing demands of the area.
He assured the public of the government’s steadfast support in maintaining peace and security, noting that the transition from an outpost to a police station will ensure better accessibility, faster response times, and superior service delivery for local residents.
DIG VS Rathore commended the district police and administration for their efforts in facilitating this transition.
He reiterated the police force’s commitment to upholding law and order with professionalism and integrity.
Sharing similar sentiments, the Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi district, Prasad Giri expressed his gratitude to the government and senior leadership.
He stated that the new status of the Byrnihat Police Station would significantly enhance operational efficiency and strengthen policing across Byrnihat and its adjoining areas.
The upgradation is expected to play a vital role in crime prevention and ensuring the overall safety and well-being of the community.
