BSF Meghalaya confiscated fake Indian currency notes of face value Rs 55,000 from the International Border in East Jaiñtia Hills district last night.
According to the BSF the fake currency recovered is of very low grade, probably locally printed in Bangladesh.
Though no arrest was made as miscreants coming from Bangladesh managed to flee taking advantage of the darkness, hilly terrain and thick vegetation the BSF said the troops could recover a bag containing 105 Fake Indian currency notes in denomination of Rs 500.
An FIR has been lodged at Umkiang Police Station and the seized fake notes were handed to police.
