The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya has seized cosmetics worth Rs 4.30 lakh from the border area in East Jaiñtia Hills today after foiling bids by miscreants to smuggle the consignment to Bangladesh.
BSF official said the consignment containing ‘Skin Shine Cream’ was seized from Hingaria area and was handed over to the customs for further investigation and legal action.
“The Indian cosmetics items are in high demand in Bangladesh which leads to illegal flow of these items into Bangladesh,” the BSF said, adding, cosmetics worth Rs 1.12 crore meant for smuggling were seized last year.
