The Border Security Force (BSF) today said its troopers in a joint operation with police seized 18,800 Yaba (a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine) tablets from a pickup truck near Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills and nabbed the driver of the vehicle.
The arrested person was identified as Raj Ali and was heading towards Rangsai village area in West Garo from Goalpara in Assam.
The BSF said the tablets were seized by the team performing pre-election duty in the area.
In the run up to the elections, BSF and police have jointly seized drugs and narcotics items like Heroin, liquor and Yaba worth Rs 3.10 crore approximately.
