Another big seizure of clothes was made by the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya, this time in South West Khasi Hills.
Acting on specific tip-off, troops of the 1st Battalion of the BSF Meghalaya in the wee hours of Friday morning seized clothes worth more than Rs 14 lakh from the area near the international border with Bangladesh.
The consignment was seized by troops of border outpost Bagli when the smugglers were trying to cross over to Bangladesh. On being challenged by the BSF, the smugglers fled from the spot by taking advantage of thick vegetation and undulating terrain, leaving behind their headloads.
Sixteen bundles of clothes were found at the spot and these were handed over to the customs office in Barsora.
