Celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya yesterday organised a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme in the bordering area of South West Garo Hills.
Local villagers, school students and teachers also became part of this campaign, held by 28 Battalion of the BSF.
During the programme, BSF officials made all the participants aware of the true meaning of the Indian flag and its evolution since the freedom struggle. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and promote awareness about the national flag.
The BSF also encouraged all the participants to bring a national flag home and unfurl it from August 13 to 15 in view of the forthcoming 75th year of independence.
Meanwhile, a plantation drive under the theme of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is also being carried out on the international border and in the BSF headquarters under which more than 1,000 saplings have been planted so far.
