The Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya foiled an illegal border crossing attempt and arrested six Bangladeshis from East Jaintia Hills district today.
According to the BSF, the alert troops of 172 Battalion observed suspicious movements and immediately launched a search operation and caught the Bangladeshi nationals.
The apprehended person includes 26-year-old Shilpi and her three children, along with 23-year-old Rumana and her 7-year-old son.
It was revealed that they had illegally entered India a few months ago and they had been employed as domestic workers in Bangalore and attempted to return to Bangladesh through unauthorised means, the BSF said.
They have been handed over to the Umkiang police patrol post for further legal proceedings.
