Acting on specific tip-off yesterday, personnel of the 172nd Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) seized a truck carrying a large quantity of processed betel nuts worth more than Rs 1 crore from the Umkiang area of East Jaintia Hills.
The arrested duo revealed that the consignment of betel nuts originated in Myanmar and was being taken to Guwahati. They and the seized items were handed over by the BSF to the Umkiang police station for further legal action, a press release stated today.
