Traditional heads of various villages in Athiabari area today met to discuss on the presentation they prepared to put before the committee formed to study the interstate boundary dispute with Assam.
The West Khasi Hills committee led by Public Health Engineering Minister and Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar will conduct a field visit tomorrow to examine the situation on the ground.
Rangbah Shnong of Umsaitwait, Nastar Kharlyndoh who presided over the meeting in Athiabari said the presentations from all the villages situated along the interstate border will be submitted to the committee for it to hand over to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
HSPDP working president and former MLA, K.P Pangniang said that villages from Umchiak, Salpara, Moipara to Umsaitwait, Athiabari Kamphaduli are being intruded by Assam.
Sordars who attended the meeting under one voice said that villages in the borders will not tag along with Assam and a public signature campaign will be launched for this.
