The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the BJP which met in New Delhi today has cleared the list of party candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Meghalaya.
The list of BJP candidates from all 60 seats will be officially announced tomorrow at noon at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.
The CEC meeting which began at 5 pm at the BJP headquarters today was chaired by party national president J P Nadda in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
State BJP president Ernest Mawrie, Pynthorumkhrah MLA Alexander L. Hek, party’s national vice president in-charge of Meghalaya Chuba Ao, BJP co-incharge for North East Rituraj Sinha were among those present at the meeting.
“The full list of candidates will be officially announced at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi tomorrow at noon,” Hek told Highland Post today evening.
He also said that Mawrie will be present when the list of candidates is announced.
It may be mentioned that the BJP had many aspirants for ticket in a number of constituencies.
In North Shillong, the two ticket aspirants are former IPS officer Mariahom Kharkrang and Michael Kharsyntiew.
Similarly, the BJP has as many as five ticket aspirants in Kharkutta, Mendipathar, and Bajengdoba.
There are also four ticket aspirants for the North Tura constituency and three aspirants from Phulbari.
In Dalu, Mahendraganj and Tikrikilla there are two aspirants respectively for BJP ticket.
The BJP earlier said it will decide the ticket in these constituencies based on an internal independent survey to assess who among the aspirants has an edge.
