Cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai said that BJP party is the only secular party and this party gives a platform for the poor to become great leaders.
Shullai said this while speaking as Chief Guest at a progamme held in the city today. He commended the decision of his party to nominate State former Governor Droupadi Murmu as presidential candidate.
“Murmu is a tribal and comes from a poor family background. This shows that only the Narendra Modi-led government gives space to such leaders irrespective of caste, creed or religion,” he said.
He said even the Minister of State for Minority Affairs, John Barla, hails from poor family backgrounds and remote areas of West Bengal. “It was the BJP party that gave him the party ticket and Barla, being a Christian won with an absolute majority in a constituency comprising majority Hindus,” he added.
Stating that Prime Minister Modi himself is from a poor family and that the party made him the CM of Gujarat until he became the Prime minister, he said “Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met and invited Pope Francis to visit our country because our party believes in secularism.”
Stating that he also hails from a poor family, Shullai further said that during the Congress tenure in Delhi, it was never easy for him to go and meet their leaders unlike the BJP.
