The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has had to swallow its own words in doing a deal again with the National People’s Party (NPP), former Deputy Chief Minister Bindo M Lanong told Highland Post recently.
The BJP had gone hammer and tongs against the NPP over corruption during its term in office from 2018 to 2023 but, when the latter won the election again recently, the saffron party was the first to pledge its support.
Lanong said that it seems that the BJP can jump anywhere as long as they find a gainful position for themselves and it doesn’t matter if this means going against their own statement and swallowing their own vomit.
“How come the BJP, who termed the Conrad Sangma government as the most corrupt, are together now? People are waiting not for Conrad to reply on this corruption charge made by the BJP but expecting the BJP to reply on this,” he said.
Stating that the BJP knows only to play games for their convenience, he expressed surprise that such a statement has come from leaders who are ruling the country and now they have swallowed their own vomit and gone together with the Conrad government.
