The “big leaders” who have descended on Meghalaya to campaign for other parties will leave following the election but the National People’s Party (NPP) will be with the people forever, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said on the trail in Garo Hills today.
The other parties he was referring to are the Congress, Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party, who have all roped in fellow political figures from around the country to bat for them.
“Leaders of different political parties are campaigning today in the state,” Sangma said while pitching for Subir Marak, the NPP’s candidate for Rangsakona. “They are making tall claims. They are not aware of the ground situation in Meghalaya and just for the sake of campaigning they are making allegations. Post-election, all of them will disappear and only the NPP will remain with the people of Meghalaya.”
Staying the course and picking the NPP to lead the government again would be better for Meghalaya, he added, as that will “ensure momentum of growth and development to continue”.
