Bethany Hospital, Shillong today inaugurated its newly expanded Dialysis Unit, featuring a capacity increase of 10 state-of-the-art machines imported from Italy.
Haemodialysis is a critical treatment for patients with renal conditions and the expansion comes in response to the ever-increasing demand for the service.
Hospital spokesperson and RMO in charge of the unit, Dr. Kyntiewlang Sanmiet said, with the addition of these new machines, Bethany Hospital aims to significantly enhance its capacity to serve more patients efficiently and effectively.
“This expansion reinforces our dedication to meeting the healthcare needs of our community,” he added.
Furthermore, beneficiaries of the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) can also avail the benefits for haemodialysis, ensuring that this vital treatment remains affordable and accessible to all patients.
Notably, the Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is also equipped with haemodialysis machines to provide critical patients in the ICU with necessary haemodialysis treatments.
Dr. Sanmiet said the department has also been catering to many tourists from different parts of the country who require maintenance haemodialysis during their visit to Meghalaya. “This initiative reflects Bethany Hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare solutions beyond local communities,” he said.
