The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya, in joint operations with state police, seized 4,900 Kgs of dry betel nuts worth more than Rs 14 lakh along the international border in South Garo Hills.
Acting on specific information, BSF troops from the 200 Battalion, in collaboration with Meghalaya police launched a joint operation, which led to the seizure of the betel nuts from an abandoned house located in close proximity to the international border.
The seized betel nuts were handed over to the Rongra police station for further action.
In another operation, troops of the 172 Battalion recovered a stolen Bajaj Pulser Bike (16 A 3466) meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh and apprehended the bike rider from the Umkiang border area.
After verification, the bike and its rider were handed over to the police of Dholai Police Station under the Cachar district of Assam for legal action.
