He said that under the MDA government Meghalaya Games, which had not taken place in the last 17 years, have happened twice and even the upcoming Northeast Olympics.
“We have started to recognize our athletes and awareded them to show our support, create the infrastructure, to create an ecosystem so that they can thrive and they can practice and become major sportspersons. All these have happened in the last four and a half years in spite of Covid,” he said.
The chief minister said the government’s goal is to see that in the coming days and years, the State should be able to produce athletes, who will be able to win medals in the National games, in the Olympics and commonwealth games. “That is the mission and the vision, and we are moving forward,” he said, adding that the MDA is a government that “believes in trying the impossible.”
