An awareness programme on the theme ‘Fair Work – Fair Treatment: Educating Employees and Students on Legal Protection’ was organised on Wednesday at the College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CPGSAS), Umiam, in Ri-Bhoi.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof B Sethi, Chairperson of the Internal Committee (IC). Prof D Thakuria, Dean of CPGSAS, highlighted the importance of maintaining fairness and integrity in the workplace and academic environment. He encouraged both staff and students to uphold the principles of fair treatment and ethical conduct within the institution.
Rebina Subba, a lawyer from Shillong, spoke extensively on the concept of fair work practices and the legal safeguards available under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act. She elaborated on the relevant rules, procedures and the significance of legal awareness in fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.
