At the time of filing this report, rescue workers were still attempting to free the trapped driver, who is believed to have suffered injuries to his legs.
The accident occurred at around 5:40pm today when the Uttar Pradesh-registered truck veered off the road on its way to Guwahati and landed upside down in a ditch.
The vehicle was badly damaged in the accident and the heavy weight of the cargo it was carrying – bags of cement – made the rescue effort all the more challenging.

Due to the cement load, rescuers are having to first remove the cement in order to reach the injured driver, who is believed to have sustained leg injuries while being trapped inside the truck.
