Author Minimon Laloo was awarded with the ‘Woman of the Year Award 2021’ by the Home of Letters (India), in appreciation of her works and contribution towards society and achievements in her personal life, it was announced today.
The Home of Letters (India) describes itself as a public relations house and is based out of Odisha.
Besides writing Khasi books, she also wrote “Meghalaya GK (India/Global)” which was published annually.
Her other contributions include as a philatelist (stamp collector), having taken part in exhibitions and won prizes at the district and state levels, as an amateur photographer wherein she won prizes at exhibitions from the Department of Arts and Culture and Tourism Department.
She has also acted and written scripts for Khasi films and is a playwright and performer in a one act play titled “U NongKñia bad Ka Mem Bilat” (Ha Jylli ka Rynsan)”, “Ngam Banse” (a novel) and “Ki Khana Lyngkot” (short stories) which were adapted for television by Doordarshan Shillong. “U Men Khapnap” (from the book “Ha Jylli ka Rynsan”) was aired on All India Radio as “U Ma Syngit”.
Over the years she has been association with several organisations – Meghalaya State Council for Child Welfare, All India Poetess Conference (UP), Poetry Society India (Delhi), Sein Jaintia, Ka Thiar Lyngwiar Dpei Society, Lady Keane College Alumni Association, Khasi Authors’ Society, Meghalaya Shiksha Samiti, etc.
