A senior army officer died after he was allegedly hit by a speeding car here today.
According to the army, Colonel Ramesh Rathore of 12 Armed Regiment, posted as Col A at 101 Area Headquarter, Shillong, was walking to his office at around 5 pm when he was hit by a speeding Scorpio and succumbed later at the hospital.
The body of the army officer will be taken to his native place, Ghanau Sadulpur village, in Churu district of Rajasthan tomorrow. The last rites will be held on November 18.
Colonel Rathore’s son is also in the army. He had recently joined the National Defence Academy (NDA).
