Acting on specific information, troops of the 4th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya foiled another smuggling attempt and seized items of clothing, namely sarees, worth approximately Rs 10 lakh while being smuggled to Bangladesh.
The seizure was made by BSF jawans posted to the Pyrdiwah outpost in East Khasi Hills today.
On being challenged by the BSF, smugglers fled from the spot by taking advantage of thick vegetation and undulating terrain, leaving behind the consignment of sarees. The seized items were handed over to the concerned customs office for further action.
