In the real Top Gun environment, combat aviators are trained at the US Navy Fighter Weapons School and the Indian Air Force is not far behind in their own Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment based at Gwalior.
The recent aerial display by the Indian Air Force as part of the 91st anniversary celebrations over Umiam Lake enthralled spectators and aviation enthusiasts, from the troop transport CH-47 Chinook and a fly past by the venerable Sukhoi-30s. The highlight of the show was the aerobatic manoeuvre of the Sarang helicopters.
The leadership of the Indian Air Force is well received by global forces during the Red Flag air exercises to Bright Star 23 in Egypt matching the motto “Touch the sky with glory”.
What is needed at this hour for the higher echelons is to attract youngsters from the North East through a career fair giving a glimpse of the sacrifice and valour in the military service.
