With Trinamool Congress candidate Zenith M. Sangma filing his nominations today for the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Tura parliamentary seat, the details have come out about the wealth of candidates contesting from this constituency which has 24 Assembly segments.
Going by the affidavits filed by the four candidates in the fray, sitting MP and NPP nominee Agatha K. Sangma is the richest among them all.
Agatha has immovable property which included several bank accounts, vehicles and gold totaling Rs 52,78,453. She also owns land and houses worth Rs 2,87,17,525.
Her husband Patrick Salgira R. Marak has immovable property worth Rs 31,50,578. This included bank accounts and a Volkswagen Taigun car. He also has land worth Rs 7,87,500.
Congress candidate Zenith Sangma has immovable property worth Rs 48,66,730. This includes several bank accounts plus three vehicles – Hyundai Creta, Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Thar. He also has land and houses worth Rs 4.50 crore.
His wife Sadhiarani Sangma has immovable property worth Rs 38,13,948 which included bank accounts and vehicles consisting of Mitsubishi Pajero, Hyundai i-10 Grand, two JCB excavators and three trucks. She also owns land and houses valued at Rs 6.31 crore.
Congress candidate Saleng A. Sangma has immoveable property worth Rs 1,80,49,264 which included several bank accounts and four vehicles – Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Thar, Mahindra Scorpio and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. He also has land houses worth Rs 2.20 crore.
The poorest candidate is Labenn Ch Marak who is contesting as an independent. He has no money or land.
However, among all the Lok Sabha candidates in Meghalaya, Congress nominee and sitting MP Vincent H. Pala is the richest.
Pala, who is the candidate from Shillong parliamentary seat has declared combined assets with his spouse exceeding Rs 100 crore.
The value of his movable assets (bank accounts, vehicles, jewelleries) is Rs 1,59,27,412. His wife Dimorine Tariang has movable assets worth Rs 91,50,217. Both of them own several buildings and plots of land.
NPP candidate Ampareen Lyngdoh has movable assets worth Rs 30,06,159 and lands worth Rs 1.10 crore. Her husband Fantin J. Lakadong has moveable assets valued at Rs 26,97,013.
Independent candidate Lakhon Kma has moveable assets (bank accounts, cars) worth Rs 75.64 lakh. His wife Rima Meliza Sunn has moveable assets worth Rs 7 lakh. He has immoveable assets (land) worth Rs 4.25 crore.
VPP candidate Ricky A J Syngkon has movable assets worth Rs 43.78 lakh. His immoveable assets are valued at Rs 87.50 lakh.
UDP candidate Robertjune Kharjahrin has moveable assets worth Rs 19.26 lakh. He has immoveable assets worth Rs 16.87 lakh while his wife Ibameri Lyngdoh Marshilong has immoveable assets worth Rs 24.74 lakh.
