Opposition Leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh has reacted over BJP MLA Sanbor Shullai’s remark on Shillong MP Vincent H Pala saying his jibe rings hollow.
Shullai yesterday made a remark that Pala had wasted time in the Parliament doing nothing but eating nuts.
“The allegations made by Sanbor rings hollow because he himself hardly attends or speak in the House. Have you heard him Speak in the House? Just coming to the House and not saying anything he might as well stay back home as it is as good as staying back at home. So his allegation rings hollow,” Lyngdoh said.
He said Shullai appears to have not followed the proceedings of the Parliament where the MP has raised many issues concerning the state.
“You find out how many times Sanbor Shullai has attended the Assembly. How many times has he spoken in the Assembly?” he questioned.
“I think a lot of work has been done by him (Pala). He is a very quiet man. He doesn’t seek publicity like some of these politicians. A lot of things he has done for us and I think a lot of projects have been undertaken in the state of Meghalaya due to his effort,” he stated.
Lyngdoh said the inability of the MP to chair DISHA meetings was during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“During the last two to three years, Covid-19 was there and then a lot of schemes were not released by the Government of India that even the budgets for MGNREGS and for rural development have been slashed. So how will he conduct meeting when there is nothing to talk about, it does not make any sense,” he said.
